First Band On The Moon” millionenstarke Verkaufszahlen beschert. Gastauftritte bei David Letterman und der US-Jugend-Serie ”90210 Beverly Hills” sind die Folge.

“We are delighted to return to UK in December. We believe it’s the first time since the summer of 2007. This time we’ll indulge in the late 90s playing Gran Turismo all the way through. We hope to see you guys there!”

We all have niche loves in our lives, something we hold dear that might not get the same mileage for everyone. This practice ended up pushing albums with just a few hit songs (or even a single hit) into multi-platinum status, making careers for artists like Chumbawamba and Lou Bega, who would be considered one-hit wonders or novelty acts by any other metric. One group that got swept up into this practice was a great Swedish pop export known as the Cardigans. Their earworm ”Lovefool” ended up on the sensational 1996 Baz Luhrmann film Romeo + Juliet, which in turn helped push their third album, First Band on the Moon into platinum status.

No, really, the Cardigans never went away

If you went down to the woods during a bleak winter in 1997, you really would have been in for a surprise. Among the icy stalactites, thick frost and unforgiving conditions underfoot, a Swedish chanteuse with icy blonde hair and similarly ethereal features was comforting a long-dead creature. Not to be deterred, the woman in question took said animal, a deceased bat, to her place of work.
